Fabulous 65th Anniversary Celebration at Smyrna Opera House
What a fun and festive evening we had last Saturday evening to Celebrate our club’s 65th anniversary. (See the history of the club on our About page.) The Smyrna Opera House was the perfect historical setting for over 50 club members and guests to enjoy good food, good music (Tim Laushey Quartet), and a great time overall. The location was chosen for its charm, elegant setting, and convenient location for most club members. Special thanks to Brian Hill, Smyrna House executive director, for being so accommodating to our needs.
Pulling this event together was a collaborative effort, and special thanks to Billy Duck, Joe Spearot, AK Kissell, Fred Stapleford, Lisa Hatfield, Bill Boyd, and Mark Weining (did we leave anyone out?) for their extra help in making this event a success. Among other things Billy brought us a delicious chocolate raspberry cake (see picture), AK brought interesting posters on the club history (see picture), Joe and Bill were helpful with greeting and check-in of guests, Mark was helpful in setting up MSR for registrations, Lisa brought some wonderful table decorations, and Fred coordinated the challenging task of managing the catering.
At the event we finalized voting for next year’s club members, and appreciate everyone who took the time to vote. We also gave out several of our commemorative track posters as door prizes. The Tim Laushey Quartet was excellent and well-received by the guests.
Special thanks to our caterer, Skyline Catering, and their team for going the extra mile for us. Much appreciated.
The event was a wonderful way to celebrate an amazing 65 years of the Delaware Region, and we look forward to many more.
