2016 Porsche Parade by A.K. Kissell

The 61st ‘Porsche Parade’, held at Jay Peak ski resort near village of Jay, Vermont ran from June 17 to 24, 2016.

In spite of what the title says, it is a national week long gathering of Porsche owners from across the US and Canada. The ‘Parade’ handbook lists 1072 Entrants this year not counting co-entrants and others. Porsche cars were everywhere. You can get an idea of the Concours size by looking at the 3 aerial photos taken by PCA from a giant fire engine. One photo shows the Historical display(not as large as last year), another photo shows Fairway (9) with featured water cooled front engined, 356s ,914s ,912s and older 911s. The other Fairway (1) photo contained the other classes.

It is a week long list of activities. The cable car had a problem so it was being repaired at the time we were there. The next ‘Parade’ will be held on the West coast.

We left Delaware about 2:30 Friday (17th) arriving at little after 11:30 am. Concours prep. etc. started Fri.but with registration starting at 9:00 Sunday morning. On the day of the Concours (Mon) we got up at 4:00 because our car (71-914) was the first group scheduled, going on the field at 5:30. Everything went well but I think it was the hottest day this summer so far.

These are the people we saw at the ‘Porsche Parade’ that are in our Region or come to our events :
Charles & Patti Calhoun - GT3RS - 3rd in class
Bill & Debbie Cooper
Fred Stapleford & friend
AK , Helga & Arno Kissell - 1971 914 -1st in class
Peter & Joyce Hunt
