Summer Picnic Recap

Meeting location: Lums Pond State Park, Delaware

On July 8th our club got together at beautiful Lums Pond for our annual summer picnic.  Picnic area four, which features plenty of shade-covered picnic tables and an adjacent parking lot, was the perfect venue for folks to gather in what turned out to be a hot and muggy day.  The event featured a “People’s Choice” car show, food catered by Blue Hen BBQ, and dessert provided by Mr. Softee.

Overall, we had over 60 club members and guests attend, and with more than 20 beautiful Porsches participating in the car show.  Guests were asked to vote for the car they would most like to own, with the top three winners receiving prizes and recognition.  Cars in attendance featured some older entries, including a 1985 Carrera Targa and a 1987 944S, as well as Porsche’s newest monsters, a 2022 911 Turbo S and a 2023 911 GT3.  It was awesome to see so many beautiful cars lined up together enjoying the event!

Second Place: 1987 944S owned by Doug and Roberta Brown
 
Third Place: 2009 Cayman S owned by Brandon Kimmins

Good company, food, drinks and desserts were enjoyed by all.  Many thanks go out to the Lums Pond staff for being very accommodating, and the folks who helped make the picnic a great success: Gary Place, Matt Bader, Tom Beane, AK Kissell, Bill Boyd, Mark Weining, and Lisa Hatfield. Mark managed the event registrations for the event.
